Adolescent
Counselling
The teenage years are a second infancy for the brain: enormous growth, real turbulence, and a critical window to build lifelong health.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Chitrakshi Tewari, MD (Paediatrics)
Adolescence brings change in body, mood, sleep and identity, and teenagers often open up more easily in a confidential, judgement-free space. Dr. Chitrakshi Tewari offers private online consultations for teen mental health, stress, body image, sleep and screen use, with evidence-based, respectful support for adolescents and their families across India.
Why adolescents need their own kind of care
WHO estimates that one in seven adolescents aged 10 to 19 experiences a mental health condition, and that half of all lifetime mental health conditions begin by the mid-teens, most going unrecognised at the time. Add academic pressure, body changes, social media and shifting sleep biology, and it is clear teens deserve care designed for them, not scaled-up child care or scaled-down adult care.
What sessions can cover
How confidentiality works
Teens open up when they trust the space. Sessions typically include time with the parent and time with the teen alone, with clear ground rules agreed upfront: what stays private, and the safety-related exceptions where parents must be involved. This structure, standard in adolescent medicine, protects trust while keeping teens safe. For concerns needing psychiatric expertise, the Wellness 360 Plan connects families directly with Dr. Shaurya Garg.
The strongest thing you can do for a struggling teen is keep the relationship warm while holding steady boundaries. Sessions include concrete guidance for parents too: what to say, what to avoid, and when to escalate.
